easyjet eyes up a future at Heathrow

One of Europe’s largest airlines, easyjet, has hinted that it may look at a future move to Heathrow if the conditions area right.

As a preliminary move, it has applied to join the airport’s Consultative Committee, which is a key part of the decision making process.

But it’s essentially a long-term strategy with  a decision based on the granting of a third runway and the consequent freeing-up of slots.

“We fly into the hub airports of France, Italy and Holland – so a move to Heathrow could make sense in certain conditions” said an airline source.

The carrier has been developing its business product in recent years and the Heathrow market could prove useful to them.

Other budget airlines, such as Vueling, already operate out of Heathrow.
